As a self-proclaimed blanket aficionado who has tested well over a dozen throws, I can confirm that even the best blankets are not “one size fits all.” For starters, there are the occasions. A movie night calls for a different cover-up than bundling up in bed with a case of the sniffles. Then, you have to factor in size, washability and weight. Heck, there are even heated blankets and cooling blankets!
Despite the overwhelming options, I’ve found one blanket that is a game-changer—especially for gifting. Yes, it’s pricey. But the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket boasts the softest, snuggliest fabric I’ve ever encountered. Here’s everything you need to know about this gorgeous splurge option.

The Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket features the softest faux fur fabric our tester has ever encountered.
The Cuddle Blanket is a faux fur throw made by luxury bedding brand Cozy Earth. It features an ultra-soft, 100% polyester fabric that’s incredibly warm and, well, cuddly. You can order the Cuddle Blanket in two sizes: standard (60×50 inches) and oversized (80×60 inches). It’s currently available in a handful of colors, as well as with “bubble,” “double bubble” and “channel” textures.
I’ve been testing the oversized Cuddle Blanket in the dove grey colorway since June 2025.

The Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket arrived in a big brown box. Like other Cozy Earth bedding, it came tucked inside a really sturdy zip-top bag. This is one of my favorite luxe details about the brand, as I don’t need to worry about tracking down a vessel for off-season storage.
I had read through the reviews explaining that the oversized blanket is heavy, and they were right! While not quite as hefty as one of the best weighted blankets, the Cuddle Blanket has more weight than your average throw. Keep that in mind if shopping for someone young, old or with limited mobility—it could be too heavy for them. The standard throw size and bubble styles are also a little lighter.

Right out of the bag, I was genuinely shocked by how soft the fabric was. I joked to my husband that it felt like chinchilla fur—or being enrobed in a giant Jellycat. It’s truly one of the softest things I’ve ever touched.
Plus, on closer inspection, you can tell that it’s a high-quality blanket that should last for years, if not a lifetime. There was also no weird chemical or packaging smells, which is always a plus.

Next, I got on with the most important tasks: lounging, snuggling and napping! I tossed the Cuddle Blanket on my couch and got right to work, err, rest.
As a born-and-bred Wisconsinite, I’m familiar with the appeal of a good blanket. During a Polar Vortex, there are times when I would do anything to keep warm! The Cozy Earth blanket is oh-so-soft and weighted—somehow without being smothering. Yes, of course it is warm. But it’s also still breathable.
For three months, I found myself reaching for the Cuddle Blanket at every chance. It’s the ultimate companion for reading, watching TV or even working from home. I frequently found myself mindlessly petting the fabric while hanging out on the couch.
I noticed that the silky-smooth fabric does have a tendency to slip around. When napping, it’s best to tuck a piece of the blanket underneath your body so it doesn’t fall off. The size is also generous. While not quite as large as a Big Blanket, the oversized throw is plenty large enough to share.

The one main con of the Cuddle Blanket? The oversized throw is, at least in my opinion, not safe for a standard home washing machine. Cozy Earth recommends machine-washing cold separately and hanging to dry; or for lasting quality, dry cleaning. I strongly suggest the latter.
My front-load washing machine has gone off balance while washing a queen-size duvet, and the Cuddle Blanket weighs twice as much. (And that’s when it’s dry!) It could potentially work inside an industrial-sized machine at a laundromat, but I’m not risking a costly repair to my home washer.
Instead, I plan to treat the Cuddle Blanket similarly to an heirloom quilt. I’ll spot-treat any spills and do my best to keep it clean. For this reason, it may not be the best option for households with a lot of everyday messes.
You can also consider opting for the smaller throw size. Editor Madi Koetting previously tested the standard Cuddle Blanket in 2023, and she ran it through the washing machine and laid it out to dry with zero issues.
I’m not the only one smitten with this out-of-this-world blanket. It’s earned a solid 4.9-star rating on nearly 400 reviews.
“Best blanket ever! I have no words as to how life-changing this giant, heavy, cuddly blanket is,” says verified buyer Janice Y. “Getting out of bed is harder these days. Even my dogs seem less anxious just from lying on top of it, and I find it funny that they slip and slide on the blanket. I mean, that is how soft it is! I’m definitely gifting this to my friend who lost her house in the Palisades fires so she can have a sense of comfort and feel loved.”
Another 5-star reviewer, Anh, echoes just how great a gift the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket is: “The Cuddle Blanket and Cuddle Pillows were Christmas gifts for my brother and his family. They absolutely love, love, love it. Soft, comforting, luxurious. The blanket came in a beautiful, large cotton zip-top tote that my sister in law was so excited to receive. The Cuddle Blanket is the perfect weight—this is a huge design achievement. It has no equal. You will love it and will be amazed at how comfy it is.”

While there are dozens of faux fur blankets on the market, the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket is most comparable to another luxury pick: Lola Blankets. While both brands make a buttery-soft, oh-so snuggly throw, there are a few key differences:
I came into this review with every hope of finding that there’s no way a blanket is worth over $300. I’m afraid I was proven wrong. The Cuddle Blanket is absolutely a splurge, but it does, in fact, live up to the hype. I have yet to encounter another comparable blanket on the market that is as uber-soft, cozy and high-quality. Plus, it makes an incredible holiday gift. (Just make sure you order one for yourself, too!)
Yes, it's a splurge, but the Cuddle Blanket is at the top of our holiday gift list.
Pick up the Cuddle Blanket on the Cozy Earth website or Amazon. The regular-sized throw costs $278, and the oversized version I tested goes for $328. You can save a little by opting for the bubble version, which costs $228 for the regular and $278 for the oversized. Keep an eye out for sitewide Cozy Earth sales, too.
