There is no question that Joanna Gaines is an absolute powerhouse. I mean, how many people can say that they have their very own Barbie? When she isn’t renovating homes, writing cookbooks, wrangling five kids or running a business, she’s in the kitchen. That’s where Joanna goes for a break from the craziness and to replenish her creative energy.

I joke with my friends that all day long all I do is create something out of nothing—by writing words onto a blank page or filling a pan with ingredients. Eventually, I have a finished story or a complete meal, but they had to start from somewhere. And, sometimes, I’m so exhausted that I don’t have any mental energy left to think about what to make for dinner. Joanna Gaines might have saved me from some of that headache with her new line of Magnolia Table products, available now at Target.

If you own one of her three Magnolia Table cookbooks, then you know how good Joanna Gaines is at getting food on the table. Her banana bread and buttermilk biscuit recipes have achieved a cult status among her fans for being reliably delicious. Now, she’s taken that one step further by offering them in the Target freezer aisle. That’s right—all you have to do is pop a tray of biscuits in the oven, and they’ll be hot and ready in 20 minutes.

The Magnolia Table line offers six of Joanna’s recipes: banana bread, cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies, silo cookies, sugar cookies and buttermilk biscuits. You can simply take them out of the freezer, put them in the oven, and enjoy baked goods that feel homemade in a matter of minutes. The cinnamon rolls are the only item that need to thaw before baking—that way they achieve a good rise.

It seems almost too good to be true. But I went to Waco, Texas where the Magnolia Table restaurant is based for an exclusive sneak peek and was able to taste some of Joanna’s new Magnolia Table frozen offerings.

How do the frozen Magnolia Table items taste?

I tried the banana bread, cinnamon rolls, chocolate chip cookies and buttermilk biscuits while chatting with Joanna Gaines herself. I even had the biscuits three ways—as a bun for a honey butter fried chicken slider, as biscuits and gravy and slathered with homemade strawberry butter. And I’ve never eaten a frozen biscuit that tastes this good.

I asked Joanna how the new Magnolia Table line fits into her cooking ethos. “It’s all about balance. What’s the intention of cooking to begin with? For me, it’s wanting to gather my family and friends around the table,” she told me over biscuits in the Magnolia test kitchen. “What can I do practically that can be homemade, and how much of it can be a little bit of a cheat? I love to cook with a balance of both.”

If you like cooking, then you’ll definitely resonate with that mentality. Cooking is about feeding ourselves, sure, but it runs so much deeper than that. It’s the ultimate act of love. And Joanna Gaines just gifted all of us a little more love in our busy lives.
