Our most beloved childhood snacks are even sweeter with ice cream.
Being a kid came with a lot of running around outside, playing with friends and chowing down on all kinds of Little Debbie snacks. I’d be remiss not to acknowledge the amount of Cosmic Brownies I’ve consumed in my lifetime. So much so that I even make my own copycats at home. Listen, it’s not a want—it’s a need.
And that’s not all I need. Recently, we got wind of Little Debbie ice cream sandwiches entering the foray. My inner child perked up and absolutely begged to know more. While I know it’s winter and currently a scorching -2 degrees outside, it’s never the wrong time for ice cream. So I popped by my local Mariano’s and snagged a few boxes.
What are the Little Debbie ice cream sandwiches?
There are a multitude of Little Debbie snacks to choose from. Besides her regulars like Swiss Cake Rolls, Zebra Cakes and Fudge Rounds, there’s also the Oatmeal Creme Pies and Cosmic Brownies as all-time classics. She even makes seasonal sweets when the right time rolls around.
While we’d love ice cream sandwich versions of literally every Little Debbie snack available, we’re starting small. Both the popular Oatmeal Creme Pies and Cosmic Brownies got an ice cream makeover, and I’m here to tell you how true they stay to their delicious originals.
How do the Cosmic Brownie ice cream sandwiches taste?
I had high, high hopes for this upgraded Cosmic Brownie concoction, and I wasn’t disappointed. While I wish there were far more colorful chocolate candies sprinkled throughout the top and bottom brownies, the taste is sensational. A hearty amount of creamy chocolate ice cream sits between two extremely soft and delicious chocolate brownies. It’s an even exchange for the lack of fudgy frosting from the original. The chocolate flavor of the ice cream seemed slightly artificial to me; however, it didn’t make enough of a difference. If you’re a chocolate fiend, these are absolutely the sweet treat for you. I finished it in a flash and immediately felt the need to reach for another.
How do the Oatmeal Creme Pie ice cream sandwiches taste?
Incredible. I could easily knock back an entire box of these in a day. Two soft and sweet oatmeal cookies hug a hefty patty of creamy vanilla ice cream. It might be the best flavor combination ever. The strong cinnamon combined with the soft vanilla makes me think of my grandma’s baking from when I was a kid. Think of the difference between cake and ice cream cake—neither is better than the other, but they’re both phenomenal in their own right. As is the Oatmeal Creme Pie and Oatmeal Creme Pie ice cream sandwich.
While these are a bit smaller than the Cosmic Brownie ice cream sandwiches, that doesn’t matter to me. You get two more of them in the box for the same price. I’d call that a win. I’ll gladly weather the freezing temperatures for another box or two—Little Debbie herself should be proud!

You can find Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie and Cosmic Brownie ice cream sandwiches at your local Kroger and Kroger-affiliated stores like Mariano’s. They’ve also been spotted at Hy-Vee, Meijer, Giant Eagle, Roundy’s and Family Fare, among other similar grocery stores. A 4-count box of Cosmic Brownies and a 6-count box of Oatmeal Creme Pies both go for $9.49 while supplies last.
