Who knew that some of the best holiday gifts could be found on grocery store shelves at Trader Joe's? An annual favorite is back, and now is the time to stock up before they're sold out for the season.
Trader Joe’s Just Brought Back This Fan-Favorite Holiday Gift
As I kicked off my holiday shopping in the days after Thanksgiving, I found myself at department stores and shopping online. However, I never thought I’d find some of my favorite holiday gifts at the grocery store! If you’re looking for a budget-friendly and high-quality gift for the special people in your life, all you need is $12.99 and a trip to your local Trader Joe’s.
What’s so special about the Trader Joe’s olive wood cutting board?

Trader Joe’s is a treasure trove of holiday products. You can find ingredients for spectacular meals and sweet treats for stuffing stockings. And, tucked away in the corner of my local store, I stumbled upon the viral sensation that is back on the shelves for 2025—the gorgeous olive wood cutting boards.
Available in two sizes, each of these one-of-a-kind cutting boards is unique in shape and design. The smaller ones sell for $12.99, and the large version is $29.99. They are durable and affordable, and they’re sustainable. The rustic material comes from olive wood scraps leftover after the harvest. Each piece can function as a cutting board, but it’s so attractive that it can be used as a display piece for an array of holiday cookies or to showcase a Christmas charcuterie spread. I’ve even seen some shoppers take the boards a step further and personalize them with custom engraving.
How long will the wooden boards be available?
Like so many things at Trader Joe’s, they are here one day and gone the next. Reports from previous years show that these wooden boards tend to sell out quickly and might not get restocked past the holiday season rush. I was lucky enough to find both sizes in my local store, along with coordinating olive wood spatulas. I snatched up a couple of them because I have no idea if they’ll still be there when I look again next week. If you spy them at your Trader Joe’s, grab a few before they’re gone for the season.
What’s the best way to care for olive wood?
Once you get your hands on one of these coveted olive wood boards, it’s imperative to properly care for them so they remain beautiful for years to come. Clean wooden cutting boards with soap and water after each use. Salt, lemons or vinegar are all-natural solutions for removing stinky odors or unsightly stains.
To keep them looking like they haven’t aged a day, oil your board about once a month with a food-grade mineral oil. Using any sort of cooking oil, like olive oil or canola oil, won’t work because they will become rancid over time. Keeping the boards well-oiled will prevent cracking and drying out.
