Fall is here, and there's no better way to celebrate the season than with German goodies. Prost!
Certain stores are worth a special trip, and don’t require an excuse to visit. Aldi is one of them. Sure, it’s a grocery store, and going to the grocery store could easily fall into “chore” territory—but Aldi is special. Its signature combination of unique finds and budget-friendly staples have given it something of a cult status in the grocery world.
And fans know that the most wonderful time of the year at the store isn’t Christmas; it’s actually Aldi Oktoberfest. This seasonal German celebration takes place from late September through early October every year. Take a walk through the aisles and you’ll spot special products with a Deutsche Küche label indicating their seasonal status.
With so many great options, seasonal shopping can easily become overwhelming. Whether you want to stock up on everything (like I probably will) or just pick a few products to try, these are the best Aldi Oktoberfest finds for your autumn enjoyment. They’re not in any particular order, because I could never actually pick my favorite!

Doppel Keks
These delicious sandwich cookies come wrapped in a giant tube. They’re not too sweet, and have the perfect chocolate-to-cookie ratio. The cookie itself has a nice snap and good crumb, which is what I think Paul Hollywood would say if he ate one.

Bavarian Soft Pretzel Sticks
You don’t have to go to a shopping mall to enjoy a soft pretzel! While Aldi carries both traditional twists and sticks, I definitely prefer the pretzel sticks. They’re perfect for dipping into spicy mustards and beer cheese spread.

Apple Walnut Cake
Step aside, pumpkin spice; fall is really about apples. And nothing celebrates the humble apple better than this cake. It’s a great combination of almond cake, apple slices and caramelized walnuts. Keep it in the freezer until you’re ready to bake it.

Pork Schnitzel
Aldi actually carries this in beef, chicken and pork varieties, so you can choose your own schnitzel adventure. I like pork the best, because it feels very hearty and German. Pair this thinly breaded pork loin with braised cabbage and just like that, dinner’s ready—and it’s delicious.

Cherry Frangipane Tart
If you don’t like marzipan, you can’t come over for a holiday meal at my house. This showstopping cherry tart plays up all the sweetness of almonds, and pairs it with the juicy tang of cherries. If you’re entertaining guests, definitely break this out after dinner to wow them.

Mushroom & Cheese Strudel
There may be an abundance of sweet strudels in the world, but I prefer their savory counterparts. This flaky puff pastry bakes from frozen and is filled with cheese and mushrooms. It’s a perfect fall appetizer—that is, if you feel like sharing.

Red Cabbage with Apple
If you’re not embracing cabbage this fall, then you’re sorely missing out. The powerhouse cruciferous vegetable is unbelievably versatile, as evidenced by this jarred version. It’s slightly sweetened with apple and makes a great side dish to any meal. Better yet, throw it on a brat.

Hazelnut Doppelino Sandwich Cookies
Yes, this is a different cookie than the Doppel Keks: It’s smaller! While it comes in three different flavors (chocolate, hazelnut and speculoos), I strongly prefer the hazelnut variety. They’re perfectly sweet and adorably bite-sized, and they pair well with your morning coffee.
