These Are the 10 Best Costco Fall Finds That Aren’t Pumpkin Pie

From muffins to meatballs, Costco's coolest autumnal finds are worth seeking out before the leaves all fall.

Costco’s massive pumpkin pie isn’t the only thing to stock up on for the season. To prove it, I scoured the shelves of my local Costco here in the chain’s home region of Seattle and raked up as many fall foods as I could find. The autumnal treats ranged from sweet baked goods to savory prepared dishes. Some options, like soup and ravioli, work best when you’re Costco shopping for a small household. Others, like cookies and strudel bites, can feed a whole party when you include them on your dessert table spread. All you’d need to add is Costco’s new dessert bar tray, and you’ll be feeding the masses.

Pumpkin Streusel Muffins

Costco makes its own pumpkin streusel muffins, sold in a pack of eight for $6.99. These softball-sized muffins are moist and soft with a crumbly streusel topping. I wouldn’t mind if they had even more pumpkin flavor, but they make for a nice breakfast or brunch offering regardless.

Pumpkin Cheesecake with Whipped Topping

If you want something similar to Costco’s famed pumpkin pie, pick up the store’s homemade pumpkin cheesecake. It features a graham cracker crust and a light, fluffy pumpkin whipped topping, priced at $21.99. Not bad for over 4 pounds of sweetness! This elegant and satisfying dessert would be a great addition to any Thanksgiving table.

Sugar Cookies with Fall Sprinkles

When I unpacked my Costco haul, my teenager went straight for the sugar cookies with fall sprinkles, sold in a 24-pack for $9.99. These aren’t fancy—the simple sugar cookies are decorated with brown, red, orange, green and yellow sprinkles—but the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture makes them a great snack to toss into school lunch bags.

Caramel Apple Strudel Bites

Costco’s own apple strudel bites, sold in a 12-pack for $8.99, are my favorite of the store’s fall baked goods. It helps that they’re smallish (one fits in your palm with room to spare) yet big on flavor. The braided, sugar-topped dough surrounds a caramel-apple filling that’s even better if you pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds.

Kirkland Cranberry Walnut Loaf

It took me some strength and a good bread knife to saw a slice off of the hearty 2-pound loaf of Kirkland cranberry walnut bread, which sells for $7.99. But it was worth it. This is no Wonder Bread; it’s a bread-lover’s loaf, with a crisp crust, chewy crumb and generous amounts of cranberries and walnuts in each slice. Slather on the best butter you can find, and enjoy.

I always make one package the week I buy them and freeze the other for my holiday parties later.
