Whether you’re sending it to a friend, family member or partner, fresh flowers are a timeless gift. They’re a reliable option for happy celebrations like Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day, as well as more somber occasions like the loss of a loved one.
Generally, we think the best option when hunting for a flower delivery service is to find a local florist. It’s cheaper and more sustainable as the blooms don’t have to travel so far. Plus, there’s less chance for them to get delayed (and wilt) in transit. That said, it’s not always an easy option—especially when sending long distance.
If you need to order online, we have you covered. Our team tested 16 popular services to evaluate the best picks for every budget and occasion. Here’s what we recommend.
Stunning arrangements available for an impeccable value
Looks exactly like the listing
High-quality and unique stems
Arrangement comes with two flower food packets
Fun add-ons available including candles, stickers, coffee or video message
Cons:
Vase not included; available for an extra fee
Must trim stems/leaves and arrange yourself
Topping our list of best flower delivery services, the show-stopping arrangements via BloomsyBox consistently blow us away for their smooth delivery process and overall experience. Though some services offer multiple bouquet sizes to choose from, BloomsyBox is simple. Only one size is available, but boy, is it a stunner. Plus, it’s an impeccable value for about 30 stems in each arrangement.
EMIKO FRANZEN FOR TASTE OF HOME
We tested the Celebration bouquet featuring a vibrant array of gerbera daisies, roses and veronica. BloomsyBox delivers arrangements inside a carefully packaged cardboard box (don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds). This keeps blooms protected from the weather elements. Our team has tested a handful of BloomsyBox bouquets in inclement weather (hello, Midwest snow storms), and their arrangements have not disappointed.
Upon the arrangement’s arrival, we pulled off a few wilted leaves, trimmed the stems and removed the mesh protectors off the blossoms. After arranging, it was clear this brand was the clear winner. The flowers were perky, bountiful and colorful to boot. They remained fresh for about a week. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed by the textures and quality of the flowers—all miles above what you can find in a generic grocery store. Oh, and if you’d like fresh blooms every month? Try a flower subscription service.

Best Splurge
Ode a la Rose
Pros:
Bouquets arrive pre-arranged
Many delivery dates available
Transparent pricing
Multiple arrangement sizes available
Service sends a picture of the bouquet to the buyer when it's ready to ship
Option to upload a photo to have it printed and displayed with the bouquet
Cons:
On the pricey side
Vase costs extra
Perhaps the most daring part of online flower delivery is that you don’t get to see the arrangement before it ships. Online flower photos can be quite deceiving, making it hard to decide if it’s more worthwhile to buy blooms in person or online for easy delivery. In our testing, we were quite impressed to discover Ode a la Rose sends a picture notification of the bouquet you’re sending when it’s ready to ship. How sweet!
EMIKO FRANZEN FOR TASTE OF HOME
We tested the Felice bouquet, a stunning 20-stem arrangement featuring white and pink roses, pink alstroemeria and lisianthus, pink veronica and baby blue eucalyptus. The eucalyptus smelled the strongest, while the roses could only be smelled up close.
The premium look and feel of Ode a la Rose’s arrangements translate into real life. Though this is a splurge-worthy pick, it’s absolutely worth it for the overall gifting experience. The bouquet arrived pre-arranged. Bonus: We didn’t have to mess with stems at all.

Best Value
Sam's Club
Pros:
Massive size and stature
Very fragrant and fresh
Tons of gorgeous stems included
Beautiful box presentation
Very little filler
Vase included in XL Premium options
Cons:
Inconsistent packaging
Not a lot of vase options
Stunning arrangements don’t have to cost more than a hundred bucks. At least that’s the case with the gorgeous, cost-effective arrangements from Sam’s Club—yes, that Sam’s Club! In fact, our tester Katie was so impressed with her three bouquets that she wrote a full review of her experience with this unlikely florist.
From the moment Katie unboxed her arrangements—including two Member’s Mark Farm Fresh bouquets and one Member’s Mark XL Premium vase arrangement—she was smitten. Sam’s Club arrangements come in a huge variety of options, including seasonal arrangements. Each boasted fresh, fragrant stems that included high-value inclusions like eucalyptus, pine and lilies. No cheap filler here! As a bonus, these last for about a week when properly trimmed and displayed in a water-filled vase.
Katie Bandurski for Taste of Home
“I was very very impressed,” raves Katie. “I’ve tested many services, and Sam’s is right up there with the best for half the price. The bouquets have some quirks—packaging wasn’t consistent, not a lot of options for vases or add ons, flowers can be tricky to arrange—but the massive size and stature is well worth the $50 price tag. I would absolutely pick the XL Premium bouquet over the Farm Fresh ones, though. It’s bigger and you get a massive vase.”
It’s worth noting that ordering requires a Sam’s Club account. Additionally, all members may pay a shipping cost dependent on their mailing address for certain items, but Plus members get free shipping on eligible orders over $50. We think that’s such a steal—you can’t beat a $0 delivery fee on flowers!

Most Sustainable
The Bouqs Co.
Pros:
Transparent farming practices
Sustainable, recyclable packaging
Arrangements resemble the photos
Lots of delivery dates available
Flower food included
Minimal waste
Cons:
Pricey delivery
Some buds arrived closed
If you’re interested in knowing exactly where each bloom comes from, The Bouqs is right up your alley. Everything on the site—including the gorgeous Glowing bouquet we chose—arrives in sustainable, recyclable packaging. The flowers are also delivered in bud form, which take 2-3 days to open. This means they last much longer than flowers already in full bloom.
To order, you start by selecting your size. Vases are included by default, so if you don’t need one, you’ll need to manually remove it. Shoppers also have the option to start a subscription or make a one-time purchase. Our box arrived branded and in nice shape. It has a slim profile and includes information about sourcing, flower care and the company.
Katie Bandurski for Taste of Home
We were incredibly impressed with our choice of bouquet. Farm-fresh white snapdragons, roses, lilies, green mini hydrangeas, and greenery make up a gorgeous arrangement that looks and feels absolutely ethereal. Like most of the other services, Bouqs provides several delivery dates, which change depending on availability.
Over the years, our Senior Shopping Editor, Katie Bandurski, has tried several Bouqs bouquets and is always impressed. Next, read up on our analysis of the UrbanStems vs. Bouqs debate.

Best on Amazon
Benchmark Bouquets
Pros:
Affordable price point
Full and vibrant-looking flower arrangement
Free Prime delivery
Includes vase
Cons:
All of the blooms were closed upon arrival
Difficult to schedule delivery for a future date
Not the most unique arrangement
Yes, you can buy flower arrangements on Amazon via Benchmark Bouquets. Prime members can even score free delivery on flowers, making this the best budget pick we tested. The ease of Amazon’s ordering experience is tough to beat.
EMIKO FRANZEN FOR TASTE OF HOME
We tested the Pink Elegance arrangement from Benchmark Bouquets, which features mixed blooms like pink roses, hypericum, lilies and seasonal greens from Florverde Certified farms. The flowers arrived inside a cardboard box alongside a clear vase along with two packets of flower food. The blooms were all closed upon arrival and stayed this way for a few days. The arrangement peaked on day five when the lilies were partially opened and the roses were straight and strong.
One major con worth noting is that it’s difficult to pick a delivery date far in the future (two-day Prime shipping isn’t always ideal in this scenario). Still, we found this is the cheapest option for full, vital-looking arrangements. Last-minute flowers? No problem!

Best Variety
UrbanStems
Pros:
Large variety of unique arrangements
Gorgeous, modern arrangements that go beyond the basic
Multiple bouquet sizes available
Easy to shop by occasion: birthday, congratulations, sympathy, anniversary
Fun add-ons available including candy, chocolate, balloons or a card
Minimal trimming involved
Cons:
Limited bouquet inventory for short-notice delivery
Vase costs extra
The best part of buying flowers online are the endless options available. When you take the time to order online, you want something that goes beyond the basic grocery store bouquet. Enter UrbanStems. Boasting a stunning array of flowers available for holidays, birthdays, major accomplishments or “thinking of you” gifts, this service defines modern flower delivery. It’s a prime pick for impressive flower arrangements that will make guests wonder, “Where did you find that bouquet?”
EMIKO FRANZEN FOR TASTE OF HOME
We tested “The Situationship” bouquet, featuring an array of roses, mini callas, veronica, delphinium, alstroemeria, mums, thistle and eucalyptus. Most UrbanStems flowers are available as single or double arrangements, with some available as triple the amount of stems. The arrangement arrived carefully wrapped and packaged inside a cardboard box. I know, I know, it sounds scary having flowers delivered in, well, a box. But trust us, UrbanStems is seriously skilled at this delivery style. Plus, the beauty is that you can play around with the arrangement yourself. They even send care instructions and a nice vase for an additional fee.
Some initial prep is required for UrbanStems arrangements. You’ll want to trim the stems at an angle and prune leaves for longevity. We found zero thorns on the rose stems but needed to trim some leaves to best fit our vase. Aside from a few subtly wrinkled and browned outer rose petals, the flowers were in tip-top shape. The mums, veronica, alstroemeria and thistle held up quite well for one week, while the roses, eucalyptus and delphinium had started wilting.
Overall, the variety of flowers to choose from makes UrbanStems a stunning pick for bouquets that go beyond the garden variety arrangement. The flowers arrived fresh and in wonderful shape. Just make sure to have a vase handy if you don’t include one with your order.

Best for Roses
Teleflora
Pros:
Gorgeous, pre-arranged rose bouquets
Multiple bouquet sizes available
Fun add-ons available including balloons, stuffed animals and chocolate
Includes reusable vase
Flower delivery available for next-day orders and as far as two months out
Cons:
Quite a few leaves were submerged in the water
When you want to impress someone special, roses are a no-brainer. But ordering a rose arrangement for delivery? Now, that can be a feat. For virtually flawless roses, Teleflora offers impressive rose bouquets available in three sizes: standard, deluxe and premium. They also offer bouquets beyond roses, but we were most blown away by this arrangement style.
We tested the Sweet Clouds bouquet, which was filled with crème roses, pink spray roses, pink alstroemeria, miniature pink carnations and white waxflower arranged with lemon leaf and green pittosporum. The flowers arrived pre-arranged inside a beautiful vase (the most unique style of the whole lot). Other than needing to remove several whole leaves that were submerged in the water, no trimming or prep was required.
The arrangement smelled subtle yet sweet—not fragrant enough to fill a whole room, but pleasant nonetheless. The water required changing every two days. Our testing team was most impressed by how perky and full the roses appeared even on day nine. No browning or wilting in sight! For low-profile, small centerpiece rose arrangements, Teleflora is a trustworthy pick.

Best for Gifting
Farmgirl Flowers
Pros:
Cute and sustainable packaging with a signature burlap sack
Trendy florals like ranunculus and eucalyptus
Mix of flowers with different lifespans
Included lots of extra stems
Attractive vase
Women owned
Cons:
Some delicate flowers did not survive delivery in extreme heat
Have to cut and arrange stems yourself
Tester Nicole received her floral arrangement from Farmgirl Flowers during an extreme heatwave in Florida (we’re talking more than 100ºF heat). Despite this, her Extra Hop bouquet arrived mostly intact, with only minor drooping on some blooms. While a few had to be discarded, what remained was still an abundance of stems. We want to stress that these slight issues are atypical, and by no means a reflection of the service overall.
“I did some reading, and FarmGirl actually includes extra stems on purpose just for this reason,” says Nicole. “Even with some of the wilted stems that I had to discard I had an overwhelming amount of flowers—so much so that I was still able to fill two vases!” Having ordered from Farmgirl Flowers in the past, Nicole remains wildly impressed with their products.
Nicole Doster for Taste of Home
Farmgirl’s bouqets contain a mix of flowers with different lifespans. While some flowers like the roses and rananculus were already opening up for an attractive appeal upon arrival, the alstroemeria bloomed a day or two later, giving the arrangement new life. The arrangements also contain trendy flowers you don’t see every often, like ranunculus, lisianthus, anemones, alstroemeria, and hypericum.
The overall presentation—including the large, attractive-looking box that contains a vase with a protective burlap cover—makes them incredibly wow-worthy gifts. We also want to stress the fact that these delicate stems mostly held up in a heatwave, making Farmgirl Flowers a reliable delivery service.
What To Look for When Buying Flowers Online
EMIKO FRANZEN FOR TASTE OF HOME
In 2025, the options for where to buy flowers online are no doubt overwhelming. Do you choose a national flowery delivery service or stick to a tried-and-true local florist? While both options are wonderful, here are a few considerations to consider when buying flowers online.
"Floral subscription services offer a simple and thoughtful way to add regular beauty and joy to someone’s life. Many also extend the option to include plants, providing an additional, long-lasting option."
representative from the Society of American Florists (SAF)
Start by considering what occasion you’re shopping for: last-minute flower delivery, a holiday gift or a special occasion like a birthday or engagement gift. If choosing the former, ensure the service doesn’t charge extra for next-day or same-week delivery. Most services have a delivery fee, so depending on your budget, you may want to send an arrangement that doesn’t have a huge fee tacked on at the end of the order. Considering what occasion you’re shopping for can also help narrow down the type of arrangement. Sending “congratulations” flowers can look a lot different than an arrangement for someone going through a hard time.
Another important feature to look out for is how the flowers will arrive, like if they’re shipped in a box with instructions on arranging the bouquet or if they arrive in a ready-to-display vase. Popular brands like BloomsyBox and UrbanStems ship bouquets in a recyclable box, so you’ll have to prep the blooms before arranging them in a vase. Some services, like From You Flowers or Ode a la Rose, come pre-arranged in a vase, which is ideal for gifting.
Other Flower Delivery Services We Tested
1-800-FLOWERS: Previously our “Best for Gifting” option, were surprised no flower food was included (sugar or baking soda works just as well). Still, the roses were some of the best-smelling flowers of the whole lot we tested, despite being a bit supermarket-esque. Though some delicate stems starting to wilt, the flowers were more than presentable long after one week. These are good for last-minute gifting thanks to same-day delivery options.
Flowers for Dreams: “When I opened the box of flowers, I definitely noticed a smell. It was part floral, part chemical,” says our tester. “After about 4-5 days, the flowers smelled so bad that I could smell them as soon as I walked in the front door. I’ve also tested two other flower delivery services before (Bouqs and Urban Stems), and both were incredibly fresh, piqued a few days after opening and lasted well over a week. That was not the case with Flowers for Dreams. They were delivered on a Friday, and by Monday, they were already visibly dying.”
Fresh Sends: “There was nothing in this bouquet that wow-ed me as far as exotics, color variety, etc,” notes our tester of her “The Send” bouquet. “They’re very nice, don’t get me wrong, but the price feels high compared to what you can get at a local florist.”
From You Flowers: Formerly our “Best Value” option, these beautiful blooms were usurped by the incredibly low-cost Sams Club bouquets we tested. For gorgeous, low-profile arrangements that won’t break the bank, From You Flowers offers excellent value for the overall size and presentation. That said, there is an additional surcharge for Sunday deliveries.
FTD: This came from the same florist as the Proflowers and 1-800 Flowers bouquets. While the blooms are pretty and last a while, we didn’t see anything that made this service a standout.
Laura Ashley Flowers: Our tester was incredibly impressed with the quality and longevity of her bouquet, which lasted nearly two weeks. The flowers arrived securely and quickly thanks to Amazon Prime delivery, with the (mostly unopened) buds wrapped in foam to ensure zero breakage. Over the next week the flowers bloomed beautifully! We highly recommend them, though the flowers are all currently out of stock. We’re hoping they return soon!
Olive & Cocoa: By the third day, our blooms already looked sad and droopy. The shipping fee was also very expensive.
ProFlowers: By day five, a third of our flowers had wilted and curled—boo!
How We Found the Best Flower Delivery Services
EMIKO FRANZEN FOR TASTE OF HOME
First, we researched and identified popular flower delivery services across various styles and price points. We tested 16 bouquets in our office and homes for 10 days. The arrangements cost between $45 and $120.
With 11 hands-on testers, we evaluated and rated the bouquets based on online ordering experience, packaging and delivery, assembly and arranging, freshness over a 10-day period and overall value. Our testers carefully evaluated stems and blooms every two days (holding three-, five-, seven- and nine-day check-ins), noting any drooping, wilting or anything that would otherwise affect the bouquet’s appearance.
For the above categories, the flower arrangements received a numerical rating from one to five (five being the best), which we added together for a total bouquet score that helped guide our categorization and ranking of each flower delivery service. We sought to answer questions like: Do the arrangements require prep upon arrival? Are all the flowers fresh? Does the bouquet look like the listing picture?
Our testing gives a holistic view of the freshness and overall performance of each arrangement to help you find the best flower delivery for every style, occasion and price point.
Additional Testing in 2025
We originally published this piece in January of 2024. Since then, we’ve become aware of many other flower delivery services, leading to new testing in 2025. New services tested include Flowers for Dreams,Laura Ashley Flowers and Fresh Sends, which unfortunately did not make the cut. However, we were very impressed with our deliveries from Sam’s Club and Farmgirl Flowers, which took the place of From You Flowers and 1-800-FLOWERS for “Best Value” and “Best for Gifting,” respectively.
