Stackable Popsicle Molds

Featuring a stackable design for fuss-free freezer storage, these silicone popsicle molds come highly recommended for two reasons: They don’t take up precious freezer space, and it’s easy to layer ingredients inside due to its horizontal-fill design. This means fudge ice cream bars will be in stock all season in your home! Reviewers note the molds run on the small side, but that just means it’s OK to have two at a time—or three, we’re not counting!

Over 4,500 Amazon shoppers give this mold a five-star rating—and it’s clear why. “I’ve used a lot of molds over the years and this is as good as it gets,” writes five-star reviewer, Kira J. Emerson. “Plastic molds shatter the minute someone drops them. These won’t, and you don’t have to soak them in water for five minutes just to get anything out of them. Also, unlike plastic molds, you can just toss these in the dishwasher.”

How We Found the Best Popsicle Molds

Then, we took overall popularity into account, as well as brand recognition and trustworthiness. Next, we looked at expert and customer testimony to narrow it further. Finally, we tested them for ourselves and consulted the experts. That left us with the final list you see above.

FAQ

What can I use as an alternative mold for popsicles?

Here are a few alternatives Bond recommends if you don’t have any traditional popsicle molds:

  • Ice cube trays are ideal for popsicle molds.
  • Paper Cups: “You can use small paper cups or plastic cups, with a piece of aluminum foil to hold the stick in place if needed (just top the cup with foil, then pierce the stick through it).”
  • Loaf Pan: “Line it with plastic wrap, pour in your popsicle mixture, cover with foil, and pierce your popsicle sticks down the middle (about every inch). Once frozen, slice it into pieces and serve!”

Do stainless steel popsicle molds work?

Absolutely. They’re especially durable and resistant to staining and odors. However, their rigidity and potential to warp with temperature changes can make removing popsicles more challenging. “Lightly coating them with a neutral oil can help with easier removal,” says Bond.

How do you keep popsicles from sticking in the mold?

Here are some tricks Bond uses to help release popsicles from their molds:

  • Use Non-Stick Coatings: “Lightly coat the inside of the molds with a neutral oil (like coconut oil) before pouring in your mixture. This can help with easy removal.”
  • Proper Freezing Time: “Ensure that popsicles are fully frozen before attempting to remove them. This usually means freezing them for at least four to six hours (or overnight).”
  • Warm Water Trick: “Briefly run warm water over the outside of the mold for a few seconds to loosen each pop.”
  • Silicone Molds: “Silicone molds’ flexibility often makes it easier to release the popsicles without additional help.”
