Alex Bala’s Walking Taco Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 1 medium green pepper, chopped
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 4 garlic cloves, crushed
- 4-1/2 teaspoons chili powder
- 4-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- walking taco:
- 8 small bags of Fritos or Doritos chips
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
- 1 cup sour cream
- Chopped green onions
Directions
- In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles, 6-8 minutes; drain. Stir in onion and pepper; cook until tender, 4-5 minutes. Drain.
- Add in next 10 ingredients; bring to a simmer. Cook, uncovered, until thickened, 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Just before serving, cut open corn chip bags. Add beef mixture and toppings to individual bags as desired.
