Baked Peaches

A dessert that looks great on the plate and tastes even better, these easy baked peaches are a must when this favorite stone fruit is in season.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium peaches, halved and pitted
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream, optional

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Place peach halves in a greased 11x7-in. baking dish, cut side up.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine water, brown sugar and maple syrup; cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Add butter and cinnamon; cook until butter is melted, 1-2 minutes longer. Pour mixture over peaches.
  3. Bake, uncovered, until peaches are tender, 25-30 minutes, basting occasionally with juices. If desired, serve over ice cream.
