British Baked Beans

Heinz clearly know a thing or two about British baked beans, but this homemade recipe comes close. In fact, you can customize the beans into something even more exciting.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) navy beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 can (15 ounces) petite diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions
- In a large saucepan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion, cook until soft, 4-5 minutes. Add garlic and tomato paste; cook one minute longer.
- Stir in beans, tomatoes, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, vinegar, Worcestershire, salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer; cook 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
