Holiday Mimosa Tips

How do you make a grapefruit twist for holiday mimosas?

To make a grapefruit (or any citrus) twist, use room temperature fruit to make shaping a cinch. Start by running a paring knife or vegetable peeler along the outside of the grapefruit, applying enough pressure to cut—but a light enough touch to avoid the majority of the pith (the bitter white portion of the peel). Cut the peel into thin strips, and loosely shape each as a spiral around a cocktail pick. Press gently to encourage the spiral shape. Pull out the pick, and place the grapefruit twist on the edge of glass. A green sugared rim or a lime peel will add a Christmas-y "twist" to the garnish. Here are more cocktail garnish ideas.

What are some variations of this holiday mimosa recipe?

The variations for holiday mimosas are endless. Adding a splash of St. Germain elderflower liqueur brightens the citrus flavors without changing the color. For a deeper red color, consider adding a half ounce of Campari. This liqueur will play well with the subtle bitterness in the ruby red grapefruit juice. A touch of pomegranate juice will enhance the color as well as the tartness of this delicious holiday mimosa. Check out more of our Christmas drinks for inspiration.

How can you make a pitcher of holiday mimosas?

To make a batch of mimosas, slowly pour one bottle of chilled champagne into a pitcher. Stir in 3 cups of ruby red grapefruit juice and 3/4 cup of raspberry liqueur to make 12 servings. Pair the batch of mimosas with one of our Christmas brunch recipes for a crowd.
