Ingredients
- 2/3 cup canola oil
- 1/4 cup crushed red pepper flakes
- 3 tablespoons dried minced onion
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon dried minced garlic
- 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
Directions
- Heat oil, red pepper flakes, onion and sesame seeds in a small saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture starts to sizzle, bubble and turns orangish-red in color, 4-5 minutes.
- Add garlic, sugar, salt and pepper. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the sugar dissolves and garlic is fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Remove from the heat. Cool slightly, stirring occasionally until it stops bubbling. Carefully pour into a heatproof container. Cool to room temperature. Serve warm or cover and refrigerate until chilled. Stir well before using.
