Toss these homemade garlic knots in garlic butter and Parmesan cheese for a restaurant-style treat that's perfect for dipping.
Ingredients
- 3 to 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 package (1/4 ounce) quick-rise yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup 2% milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3/4 cup butter plus 1 tablespoon butter, divided
- 3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Directions
- Combine 1-1/2 cups flour, yeast, sugar and salt. In a small saucepan, heat milk, 1/4 cup water and 1 tablespoon butter to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat on medium speed just until moistened. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a stiff dough.
- Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes.
- Punch down dough. Divide into 24 pieces. Roll each piece into a 4-in. rope and tie into a knot; tuck ends under. Place 2 in. apart on a greased baking sheet. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°. Bake until golden brown, 8-10 minutes.
- In a small saucepan, combine remaining 3/4 cup butter, garlic, oregano, parsley and salt. Cook, over medium heat, until butter melts and garlic becomes fragrant. Transfer to a large bowl. Add warm garlic knots and Parmesan; gently toss to coat.
