With a cool, creamy base and a bold kick from mustard and Parmesan, this Parmesan yogurt dip pulls double duty as a snack dip and sandwich spread.

This Parmesan yogurt dip is what happens when ranch dressing goes to Italy. It’s tangy from a hit of yogurt and sour cream, sharp with grated Parmesan, and packed with just enough punch from mustard, green onion and onion powder to keep your snack plate from turning into a snoozefest. The texture is creamy without feeling heavy, and the color—pale with flecks of green—makes it look as if you really tried, even if you pulled this together during the last commercial break.

Let this dip sit in the fridge for a few hours and the flavors turn into an organized group project: Everyone does their part, nobody slacks. The parsley stays bright, the cheese blends into the background like a pro, and even the yogurt stops being smug and starts behaving like party dip royalty. Serve it with a pile of raw vegetables if you’re trying to be virtuous, or use it as an excuse to make your own pretzel nuggets and double down on the snack-tastic satisfaction.

We like to eat raw vegetables a few times a week as a side dish for a meal, and this is a healthier alternative to ranch dressing for a veggie dip. —Kathleen Tribble, Buellton, California
