Vanilla Cranberry Sauce

From-scratch vanilla cranberry sauce is the secret to elevating every other dish on the Thanksgiving table. It’s a great make-ahead recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 package (12 ounces) fresh or frozen cranberries, rinsed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup rum
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, gently stir first six ingredients over medium heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 35 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and cool.
