We first tested the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket in 2023 for our Best Blankets roundup, and this year, we’re giving it another go to see if it’s still as soft and dreamy as we remember.
Deputy Editor Katie Bandurski recently snagged the large faux fur throw and was floored by how soft the fabric was. “I joked to my husband that it felt like chinchilla fur,” she says. “And cuddling with the blanket is no joke. As someone who lives in Wisconsin, there are times in the winter when I would do anything to keep warm. This oh-so-soft blanket is weighty and warming without being smothering.”

The main drawback? Cleaning it. Cozy Earth recommends cold washing it alone and then line drying or air drying it without heat. “Unfortunately, I don’t see this blanket fitting in many home washing machines,” Katie says. “It weighs a ton dry, I can’t imagine how heavy it is when wet.”
So, we recommend treating it like grandma’s heirloom quilt or a dry-clean-only comforter. In other words, keep it clean, and don’t toss it in the wash unless you absolutely have to. If you have a small washer or a home full of messy pets or kids, this may not be the most practical pick.
That said, if you’re looking to gift (or get) pure luxury in blanket form, this one’s hard to beat. It is absolutely a splurge, but we find it does, in fact, live up to the hype.
Size: 60 x 50 or 80 x 60 inches | Double-Sided Faux Fur: Yes | Material: Polyester | Cleaning: Machine wash cold (alone), gentle cycle; hang to dry or air dry, no heat | Special Features: Knife-edge finish
“The Lola Blanket might be my all-time favorite,” says Shopping Editor Mary Henn. “It’s huge, unbelievably soft and slightly stretchy, and it looks beautiful draped over a couch or chair.”
With Lola Blankets surging in popularity, our team had to see what all the buzz was about. Think of it as a cousin to the Cozy Earth Cuddle Blanket but with a textured, elastic surface that adds depth and a gentle stretch. “My partner and I can both tug a little on each side of the blanket without ripping it off of one another, thanks to the stretchy design,” Mary says.

The texture is next-level soft. “It really does feel like bunny fur,” Mary says. She opted for the trending Caramel N’ Cream color, which she says looks even better in person than it does online.
Like the Cozy Earth blanket, Lola Blankets’ require a cold wash and hang dry. “Honestly, I have no clue how I’m going to clean this oversized fur blanket. Even dry, it’s super heavy,” Mary says.
Thankfully, Lola offers multiple sizes and colors, so if the XL is too big to manage, you can opt for a smaller size that may be easier to wash and dry.
Size: 80 x 90, 60 x 72, 50 x 60 or 30 x 36 inches | Double-Sided Faux Fur: Yes | Material: Polyester | Cleaning: Machine wash cold, gentle cycle; hang to dry or air dry, no heat | Special Features: Elastic stretch; zero-shed, stain-resistant and double-hemmed fabric
Whether you’re curling up with a book or sneaking in a couch nap, the Footsac faux-fur blanket is a cold-weather essential. Made by the brand behind our favorite modular sectional, Lovesac, this super cozy blanket has a designated pocket for foot warming, and it’s perfect for winter hibernation.
“The ‘phur’ texture is dreamy; it reminds me of snuggling with a bunch of stuffed animals,” says Deputy Editor Katie Bandurski. “Plus, the built-in foot pocket ensures my feet stay toasty during movie nights, reading marathons or while simply lounging.”

After testing the blanket for nine months, Katie says there are no signs of wear. “With fuzzy fabric, you worry sometimes that it won’t hold up nicely in the wash, but this cleaned up like a dream!”
“It’s relatively lightweight,” Katie says. Some of these faux fur blankets can get heavy, but this one is still easy to move around under. There have been times when I’ve fallen asleep and woke up toasty. This is the warmest blanket I’ve ever tried. It almost feels heated (but it’s not).”
We love that cleaning this faux fur blanket is fairly easy, too. That’s in part due to its smaller size, which fits into a standard-size washer. After washing it several times, our tester Katie says the fabric is still very soft.
Our only complaint is that it is on the smaller side and ideal for one person, although Lovesac does also make larger blankets. “The 50 x 70-inch dimensions work perfectly fine for me, but it’s not wide enough to wrap fully around my husband and me,” Katie says. “For that, I’d recommend the larger Room for Two Footsac, which is a generous 75 × 70-inch size.”
Size: 50 x 70 or 75 x 70 inches | Double-Sided Faux Fur: No | Material: Synthetic faux fur with cotton-poly backing | Cleaning: Machine wash cold, gentle cycle; hang to dry or air dry, no heat | Special Features: 18-inch foot pocket

We spoke to Erika Smith, Brand Manager at Fine Linen and Bath, an online retailer of luxury home linens and textiles, about what to look for when shopping for faux fur blankets.
Her number one tip is pretty straightforward: Look for a blanket whose fur feels truly soft. “High-quality faux fur will run smoothly below your palm,” Smith says. “Lower-quality faux fur will be stiffer and more bristly.” She also provided some shopping guidelines regarding price, scent, brand and care.
Most faux fur blankets, like the blankets on this list, can be machine-washed in cold water. However, that may be tricky at home with oversized blankets if you have a small washing machine.
Luxury textile expert Erica Smith recommends washing your faux fur throw by itself in cool water on a delicate cycle with a gentle, pH-neutral detergent made for fine fabric. “Give it an extra rinse cycle to make sure all detergent is gone. This will help the fur not mat,” she says. Be sure to air-dry your throw. “When it is dry, you can fluff the fur by tumble drying with no heat and wool dryer balls for 10 to 15 minutes,” she adds.
In addition to a cold wash, faux fur blankets typically need to be hung to dry or tumble-dried on a no-heat setting.
Tumble drying a faux fur blanket without heat can help restore its original texture and softness.
One of the best ways to keep a faux fur blanket from shedding is to follow the care instructions closely. Typically, that means washing it in cold water and skipping the heat when drying. To keep it looking fresh between washes, give it a good shake now and then and run a lint roller over the surface to catch any loose fibers.
