Moto Razr Fold release date

Motorola officially announced the Razr Fold and teased us with pictures, videos, and some specs. Motorola shared some details about the device at this year's CES in Las Vegas, saying the official release is scheduled for sometime in summer 2026.

* - anticipated dates

Motorola usually announces its flip foldables in late spring, and the market release happens in early summer, so a June–July window wouldn’t be surprising for the Moto Razr Fold. The Moto Razr Ultra (2025) falls out of this pattern somewhat, but given the company itself pointed toward a summer launch, we're pretty sure it will happen around June–July.

Moto Razr Fold price and deals

Motorola didn't announce the Razr Fold's price just yet, despite unveiling the phone.

According to famous industry insider Evan Blass, the Moto Razr Fold will be "very aggressively priced" starting at $1,499.

The $1,500 price tag is, of course, for the base 256GB model, but compared to the competition in the foldable market, the Razr Fold is shaping up to be $500 cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and $300 cheaper than the base Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Moto Razr Fold deals to expect:

Things are looking relatively worrying when it comes to deals, US availability, and carrier support. The latest rumor suggests that AT&T will say goodbye to all new Motorola devices, and this includes the Moto Razr Fold

Evan Blass also speculates that Verizon and T-Mobile may follow suit and drop Motorola from their lineups as well, but currently there are no other sources to corroborate this rumor.

Moto Razr Fold camera

The Razr Fold's main camera is covered by the Sony LYT-828 sensor, the company's current go-to sensor for cameras. The main camera on the foldable comes with OIS and an aperture of f/1.6.

Razr Fold official camera setup:
  • 50MP main camera with Sony LYTIA sensor
  • 50MP ultra-wide-angle/macro secondary camera, 122-degree FOV
  • 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens
  • 32MP external selfie camera
  • 20MP internal camera;

The triple camera system on the back is similar to the camera on the non-folding Motorola Edge lineup, with three 50MP sensors under a wide, an ultrawide, and a telephoto lenses. It's a familiar setup, and we will need to snap some samples to test how good it is, given most of the smartphone photography nowadays is heavily influenced by software post-processing and other optimization algorithms.

The 3x telephoto camera also offers AI-powered 100x digital zoom, and OIS as well.

The Moto Razr Fold is equipped with two selfie cameras, just like other book-style foldables. The internal selfie camera inside the flexible display is a 20MP snapper, and the external one that's positioned in the cover screen uses a 32MP sensor.

The phone can record video of up to 8K at 30 fps. If you choose to record 4K video, you can choose the incredibly smooth and sharp 120 fps.

Moto Razr Fold storage

Curiously enough, Motorola is not giving you (or at least, it so seems) storage options to choose from. The phone is going to sport only 512 GB of storage.

Moto Razr Fold design

The design of the Moto Razr Fold is already out in the wild after Motorola teased the phone and later announced it with pictures and specs on January 9. The phone was also showcased during MWC 2026, and we even got time with it for a quick hands-on

We're looking at a very familiar design, similar to the Moto Edge series. In its folded state, the Razr Fold looks a lot like the Edge 50 Ultra.

We have a substantial camera bump on a rather thin-looking device. The outer selfie camera sits in the center of the cover screen, while the inner one is positioned in the top left corner.

The phone is available in two colors: Pantone Blackened Blue and Pantone Lily White. The first option is (basically) black, but far from boring, as it's covered in diamond-shaped etchings that feel grippy and nice to touch. The Lily White option sports a silk-like textured finish for a premium feel.

The Razr Fold is 4.6 mm thin when opened and 9.9 mm when folded and weighs 244 g. So, it's slightly thicker and heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 7

Moto Razr Fold display

Motorola revealed the sizes of the inner and cover displays of the Razr Fold back on January 9. We're looking at a big 8.1-inch inner screen, bigger than the 8-inch panel on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. In terms of resolution, rumors point toward a 2200 x 2480 pixels (~410 ppi density) and a 120 Hz refresh rate for this screen.

The cover screen is also big at 6.6-inches. On top of it all, it has 165 Hz display refresh rate. Apparently, there's more to it: Motorola states the display comes with up to 6,000 nits peak brightness.

Shockingly, Motorola claims a similarly outstanding brightness for the folding screen too: 6,200 nits. It's important to note that these peak brightness levels are almost unheard of in the mobile phone industry. We'll certainly be checking how accurate this claim is when we get the phone for a review.

According to Motorola, both displays are Pantone-validated for color reproduction and come with Dolby Vision support.

Moto Razr Fold battery

The Moto Razr Fold comes with a huge 6,000 mAh battery cell. The battery supports 80 W TurboPower charging and 50 W wireless charging. The phone is also capable of sharing its battery with other devices thanks to 5 W reverse charging.

Moto Razr Fold features and software

The Moto Razr Fold is expected to launch running Android 16 out of the box, and judging from other Motorola phones, we expect a pretty clean port. There will be some additional Moto-centric features, such as Shake to Flashlight, Peek Display, and fold-optimized multitasking, of course.

The foldable also brings some AI features like Catch Me Up and Next Move and supports the Moto Pen Ultra stylus. Motorola typically promises 3 OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates, which is not bad but still behind Samsung and Google and the seven-year software support pledge these two are offering.

Moto Razr Fold hardware and specs

Motorola is going all-in with the hardware of the Razr Fold. The phone comes with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 16 gigs of RAM. The phone is equipped with 512 GB of storage, and it seems you're not getting storage options to choose from.

Moto Razr Fold hardware specs:
  • CPU: Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite Gen 5
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Battery: 6,000 mAh
  • Charging: 80W wired, 50W wireless
  • Storage: 512 GB

Should I wait for Moto Razr Fold?

You should wait for the Moto Razr Fold if
you want a book-style foldable with cleaner Android, potentially more attractive price tag, and Motorola’s logo on it.

You should not wait for the Moto Razr Fold if you want the absolute best cameras, longest software support, or a proven foldable ecosystem right now. In that case, you should probably just get the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
