Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 release date

Motorola is likely going to unveil the Razr Ultra 2026 (or known internationally as the Razr Ultra 70) in spring 2026. Potentially, it's coming in April.

* - probable dates

Motorola is yet to announce when the new phone will be unveiled, but last year, the company unveiled its predecessor in April, so we can expect this phone to come very soon.

When it comes to availability, the Razr Ultra 2026 is likely going to be available for purchase shortly after its announcement, like a week or two later. You can expect a late April or early May 2026 market release, depending on the region.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 price and deals

Leaks have not detailed the Razr Ultra's price just yet. Current expectations are for the same price as last year, meaning the phone could start at $1,299.

*- anticipated prices
For reference, the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) was the most expensive flip phone on the market when it came out. Unfortunately, that did slightly undercut its appeal despite all the great things it had going for it.

Motorola is expected to keep the Ultra as a high-end flip phone. So, any price drops are not likely to happen.

However, a price hike is not entirely out of the question. We have a challenging situation right now with prices of components (such as memory chips) rising, so this could influence Motorola to raise the price of the Ultra.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 deals to expect:

  • Motorola.com: Motorola usually offers launch-period incentives. For example, the company gives buyers trade-in bonuses, instant discounts, or storage upgrades. These deals often appear within the first few weeks after release and can significantly lower the price.
  • Carriers: Major carriers have historically offered aggressive promotions on Razr models, including bill credits with trade-ins or discounts tied to premium plans. Similar offers should also be present for the Ultra, especially as carriers look to push foldables as flagship alternatives.
  • Retailers: Retailers like Amazon and Best Buy have previously bundled Razr phones with gift cards or temporary price cuts. While not guaranteed at launch, these deals usually appear within the first couple of months.

    Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 camera

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 expected camera setup:
    • 50 MP main camera
    • 50 MP ultra-wide camera
    • 50 MP front-facing camera

So far, we've had no leaks hinting at any new camera hardware for the foldable. You can safely expect similar image quality to the Ultra 2026's predecessor, though.

Meanwhile, there are some curious things too. A Reddit entry suggests that the Razr Ultra may come with a 200 MP camera. Of course, take this info with a grain of salt, as it's not coming from a known leaker, but rather, a purported leak on social media by Motorola Poland.

We're not likely going to see a third camera either, judging by some leaked renders of the device.

The Razr Ultra from 2025 did very well with colors and image quality. It did get a lower score on our camera benchmarks, but that was mainly due to the lack of a telephoto camera. Overall, the phone did stand out from other competing flip phones.

    Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 storage

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 expected storage capacity:
    • 1 TB (select markets)
    • 512 GB

Motorola has been unusually generous with storage on the Ultra line, and that trend should continue with the 2026 model. It would be nice to see a 256 GB base model, as that would make the Razr Ultra more accessible and competitive in the flip phone segment.

However, currently there are no rumors suggesting that. So, we expect the Ultra from 2026 to also come with 512 GB of starting storage.

        Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 design

Some rumors suggest Motorola could adjust the size of the Razr Ultra in 2026, potentially making it slightly wider and thinner. However, recently leaked CAD-based renders of the device show that it may actually not be as thin as probably some may have hoped.

This leak comes from reliable leaker OnLeaks in a collaboration with XpertPick, and those are likely very close to what the real phone may look like. The Razr Ultra 2026 may not be as different in design as its predecessor.

Unfortunately for fans of thin phones, according to the leaked renders, the Razr Ultra may be thicker than most clamshells out there, especially in a folded state. At least, it looks to be the case thus far.

The leaked dimensions of the phone are the following:
        • 171.3 x 74.1 x 7.8 mm when unfolded
        • 88 x 74.1 x 15.8 mm dimensions when folded

Its predecessor was slightly more compact (171.5 x 74 x 7.2 mm when unfolded and 88.1 x 74 x 15.7 mm when folded). You can see by the numbers that the thickness on the Razr Ultra (2026) is bigger than its predecessor.

The difference in thickness is not huge by any means, so there's that. Judging by the leaked dimensions, the Razr Ultra (2026) may also be a little bit less tall and 0.1 mm wider in comparison to its predecessor.

According to the leak, these are official product renders, so these colors are likely coming this year. It's likely we'll see more colors than just these two, judging by the colors the phone's predecessor came out in.

Confusingly enough, there's no front-facing selfie camera on these renders, as you may have rightfully observed. One theory that could explain this is the potential for an under-display selfie camera this time around. Of course, that's not guaranteed just yet.

All in all, these colors show a unique clamshell foldable, and they do look exceptional, if you ask me.

We also expect several more colorways, including a Cloud Dancer Pantone color tipped as a strong candidate. The phone's predecessor came in four gorgeous colors, shown below.

Button placement, the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and the large cover display are all expected to remain as they were on the 2025 model.

        Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 display

        * - anticipated sizes and values

Motorola's displays on foldables are wonderful, with excellent brightness and 120 Hz display refresh rate. The expected changes in the hinge mechanism may improve the display's visible crease and make it less noticeable.

Leaks indicate we're once again having the 22 by 9 aspect ratio: slightly taller than other phones. This could unfortunately lead to black bars when viewing stories on social media.

As for the outer display, not many changes to it are rumored. Expect the same edge-to-edge 4-inch cover screen. Motorola will likely continue to allow you to easily add all your apps on the cover screen.

Recent reports corroborate the screen sizes we expect. It is also believed the phone will come with 165 Hz display refresh rate technology for a smoother feel. The lack of a selfie camera cutout on the inner display, as shown in the most recent render, is an interesting twist. If true, the display would be even more immersive without a hole-punch to distract your eye.

As for the display resolution, it's expected to remain the same as last year (1080 x 1272 for the 4-inch display and 2912 x 1224 for the 7-inch display).

        Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 battery

Leaks are claiming we're not seeing a big upgrade in the battery department for the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra. According to some rumors, we may see an increase to 5,000 mAh, while other sources claim a battery of around 4,700 mAh.

Combined with a more efficient Snapdragon chipset, it is safe to assume that the battery life would be reliable.

Motorola also brought an upgrade last year (nearly 20% increase), so this year's upgrade will be slightly smaller.

Charging is likely to remain at 68 W wired and 30 W wireless, comfortably outperforming Samsung’s flip phones. Of course, a charger in the box remains unlikely, so you should plan for a compatible USB-C fast charger capable of at least 65 W if you want to make use of the full charging capabilities on the Razr Ultra 2026.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 features and software

The Razr Ultra 2026 is expected to ship with Android 16 and Motorola’s lightweight custom interface. Expect signature Moto features like Chop to Flashlight and Twist to Camera, alongside an expanded set of Motorola's AI tools.

The Ultra's predecessor, the Razr Ultra 2025, came with a new AI key that you could use to quickly gain access to AI. With a long press, you get four options to choose from, including the opportunity to get a summary of your notifications, to start a voice note, to remember something (like a screenshot), and to access Magic Canvas.

Software support is expected to include at least three major Android updates and four years of security patches, which is not bad but still behind Samsung's seven-year update cycle.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 hardware and specs

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026's expected specs:
        • CPU: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
        • RAM: 12 GB and 16 GB storage options
        • Battery: around 4,800 or 5,000 mAh
        • Charging: 68 W wired, 30 W wireless
        • Storage: 256 GB, 512 GB,  1 TB
        • Camera setup: 50 MP main + 50 MP ultra-wide
        • Connectivity: 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, NFC, USB-C

Performance will almost certainly be on a flagship level. The Razr Ultra 2026 should feel smooth, have strong gaming performance, and have excellent thermal management for a flip phone.

The phone's specs have recently leaked, and mostly, the device is expected to be similar to its predecessor. The battery is reportedly growing 6% to 5,000 mAh hours. The camera system is reportedly staying the same as its predecessor.

Should I wait for the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026?

        • You should wait for the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 if you want the most complete flip phone experience, value long battery life, fast charging, and a truly usable cover display, and are coming from an older flip or regular slab phone.

        • You should not wait for the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 if you already own the Razr Ultra (2025) or if price is your main concern. While we still don't know a lot about the upgrades, they will most likely be incremental compared to the last generation and may not justify paying $1300 for a new one so soon.
