Amazon gives its budget Kindle Fire tablets 16GB of storage and new paintjobs
Amazon hasn't forgotten about those hot little Kindle Fire tablets it's been selling like fire noodles! The retailer turned device maker has refreshed its budget tablet line-up by presenting the 8GB Fire ($50) in three new colors, introducing a new 16GB model ($70), and revamping the Fire Kids Edition.
The new color choices are blue, magenta, and tangerine – lively and hip, just right for the youngsters whose first tablet will be a Kindle Fire. The 16GB model also gets the new paintjobs, so those with $20 more to spare won't be missing out on the fun. As for the Kids Edition, Amazon has added a lime green case with soft corners to it and increased the internal storage to 16GB. This configuration costs $120, and is also available with blue and pink cases. The 8GB model is still up for sale, priced at $99.
All tablets feature 7-inch displays, a modest but functional quad-core processor, back and front cameras and microSD slots for memory expansion. And just in case you don't know, Amazon will let you buy the $50 Kindle Fire in bulk, at $250 for a six-pack. Now that's a tablet the whole family can enjoy!
