Android-based Nokia XL officially available starting today

Although Nokia’s Devices & Services division is now one with Microsoft, plans regarding the first three Android-based Nokia handsets haven’t changed. Thus, Nokia revealed that the Nokia XL, its largest Android-friendly device, is available to buy starting today in Asia Pacific (including India), the Middle East, and Africa.

Apart from being the biggest Android-based Nokia handset (dwarfing the 4-inch Nokia X and Nokia X+), the XL is also the one that offers the best features - make no mistake, though, they’re still low-end.

Sporting a 5-inch display with 480 x 800 pixels, the Nokia XL is sold for about $150 (€109). That kind of money will get you a 5MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera (good for Skype video calls), dual SIM support, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1GHz, 768MB of RAM, and 4GB of expandable storage space.

We weren’t impressed by the Nokia X when we reviewed it last month, so we’re waiting to see if the XL can change our opinion about Nokia’s foray into the Android (albeit forked) territory. Until that happens, you can let us know if you’re looking forward to buying a Nokia XL.
