Cheap, waterproof Kyocera Hydro Plus announced in the US, Cricket will sell it soon
Japan's Kyocera released quite a few Android smartphones via US carriers until now, and today it unveiled a new one. Called Kyocera Hydro Plus, the new handset will be very cheap - its suggested retail price being $139.99.
Like all the other handsets included in the Hydro series, the Hydro Plus is waterproof, its IPX7 certification protecting it “against water immersion in up to 3.28 feet (1 meter) for up to 30 minutes.” That’s the handset’s main selling point, because its other features aren’t that attractive, including a 3.5 inch HVGA (320 x 480) IPS display, 3.2MP rear camera with LED flash, an old single-core 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM-8655 processor, 512MB of RAM, a 4GB MicroSD card pre-installed, and a battery that should be able to provide up to 8.5 hours of talk-time. The smartphone's Android version wasn't revealed.
The Kyocera Hydro Plus will be available in the US via Cricket Wireless (off-contract) starting the next few days, both online and in stores, offering access to the carrier’s Muve Music 4.0 service.
