As we've discussed a few months ago when we rounded up the best tablets for kids, the Amazon Fire Kids Edition is probably the best slab for children that you can get your hands on in the US. The Amazon Fire Kids Edition usually sells for $149.99, but Amazon is currently selling it at $99.99, a $50 discount and a very good price overall for the kid-friendly tablet.

As is to be expected from a $100 tablet, the Amazon Fire Kids Edition does not impress in terms of hardware components. The raw specifications include a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, as well as 8GB of onboard storage (expandable by up 128GB via the microSD card slot). Keeping the lights on is a battery that, according to Amazon, suffices for 7 hours of reading, surfing the web, watching videos, and listening to music.

Although the quality of the pictures that you can capture with the tablet will surely disappoint any amateur photographers, your kids will probably find a use for the tablet's 2MP primary camera and VGA selfie shooter on the front. Furthermore, the system UI makes use of larger elements, which ensures that young ones will have no problem navigating the Amazon Fire Kids Edition.

Topping it all off is Amazon's 2-year "no questions asked' warranty for the Fire Kids Edition. The tablet offers some impact protection out of the box, but just in case your kids manage to smash it, Amazon will replace it for you at no cost.
