Google Body is the Google Maps of human anatomy
When we talk about advances in tablet technology, we're most often thinking about two things: games and Web browsing. But there is extraordinary educational potential in the new Android Honeycomb operating system. One such educational advance is Google Body, which is like the Google Maps of human anatomy.

Google Body, a new app for Honeycomb-powered tablets, gives the user a layered, 3-dimensional view of the human body, much like Google Maps does for geography. The user can select between layers like the skeleton, the muscular system, the nervous system, and more. You can rotate the male or female model to get a better view of a particular feature, and view it with or without its neighboring organs.

If you want to search for a specific organ, you can do a real-time search, like in Google's search engine, to find the specific feature. Once you've found the organ, you can even zoom inside of it to see its inner workings. On a basic level, introductory biology students can use the familiar interface to learn basic anatomy. On a higher level, surgical residents can use the app to gain a better understanding of different features' relative positions. Needless to say, we expect to see this in the hands of both middle-schoolers and med students alike.
