HTC Wildfire coming to the US

HTC announced today that they are bringing the HTC Wildfire to multiple unnamed carriers before the end of 2010. The Wildfire is a budget-conscious Android 2.1 device running the popular HTC Sense UI.

HTC Americas president Jason Mackenzie said the following: "With the HTC Wildfire smartphone, we are bringing the people-focused HTC Sense experience to customers looking for a compact, easy-to-learn smartphone that is still powerful enough to meet the needs of even advanced smartphone users."

Mackenzie's probably right. The Android line is pretty heavily weighted towards more powerful, and therefore more expensive, devices. If HTC is going to further improve its market share, it needs to expand their more budget-conscious footing with devices like the HTC Aria and Wildfire.

So if you were planning on getting a new Android device this holiday season, it looks like your decision just got a little more complicated. But that really isn't a problem; it seems there has never been such a good time to upgrade.

The HTC Wildfire features a 528MHz Qualcomm processor, a 3.2-inch 240x320 QVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, and a 1300mAh battery with 7 hours of talk-time.
