Hardware hack brings Wi-Fi to the Sprint Palm Pixi
Unless you were more inclined to saving money over the course of two years, then Sprint's version of the Palm Pixi might've been the right solution for you. However, the lack of Wi-Fi has long been one eyesore, on top of others, for this webOS powered device versus the improved features seen on either the current versions of the Palm Pixi Plus. Since Sprint's 3G network will suffice for the casual smartphone web surfer out there, the lack of Wi-Fi might not have been such a big deal for some. Regardless, you can now supply the aging set with its own Wi-Fi chip thanks to one owner who diligently performed a transplant operation that removed the radio board from a Verizon Palm Pixi Plus to Sprint's. Basically, the innards of both handsets are exact with the exception of the Wi-Fi chip, but thankfully this operation won't require any coding or serials numbers to function correctly. So if you happen to know a friend or two who happens to have an unused Verizon Palm Pixi Plus laying around, you can perform your own careful surgery at your own risk – but in the end, you'll have a live and breathing Sprint Palm Pixi with Wi-Fi.
