Hulu Plus finally comes to select Android tablets

Owners of (some) Android tablets rejoice; Hulu Plus has finally arrived. The popular television show streaming service is rolling out to seven Android tablets initially, although Hulu indicates that “This is just the beginning of our Android tablet rollout.”

For now the service is restricted to Asus Transformer Prime, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Motorola Xoom, Motorola XYBoard 10.1, Toshiba Thrive, Acer Iconia, and LG G-Slate. Presumably other popular tablets, like the Samsung Galaxy Tab, will see an update soon. Of course there’s always the possibility of a hack showing up as well.

It’s been a long time coming for Android tablet owners – not only have iPad owners been enjoying Hulu Plus for some time, but more popular (and lower cost) tablets like the Kindle Fire have also been rocking Hulu Plus for several months. Hulu wants to point out, however, that this isn’t a simple port of previous tablet apps. They took advantage of the extra time to develop an improved tablet-centric UI. Taking cues from Ice Cream Sandwich, Hulu allows you to swipe through your TV choices, and makes use of large images to impart the “magazine in motion” layout that Android 4.0 users have grown accustomed to.

If you’re a Hulu Plus subscriber and a lucky owner of one of the seven tablets mentioned above, you can head on over to the Play Store to download some TV goodness right now. For everyone else, Hulu supplied the following promotional video, presumably to make waiting even more unbearable.
