MetroPCS launches the Galaxy S III on October 22, price is $499

Good news for MetroPCS customers! One of the very best Android smartphones of the year will soon be part of the carrier's portfolio. The Samsung Galaxy S III, which was expected to go on sale with MetroPCS this month has now gotten an official release date and price.

Users who'd like to experience the "nature-inspired" handset without having to sign a lengthy contract will be able to purchase it starting October 22, for the bearable price of $499. After that, they can take advantage of Metro's $30 to $70 no-contract service plans.

The device itself is the same as the one available on other U.S. carriers. It has a dual-core Snapdragon processor, 2 GB RAM and LTE. That's right, MetroPCS also offers 4G LTE service, though you'll have to check if your area is covered.
