Nexus 6 supports tap-to-wake, but Google disabled the feature before launching the handset

The Motorola-made Nexus 6 is definitely a beast of a phone - both when it comes to specs, and size. Being the newest Nexus smartphone, the Nexus 6 runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes with tons of features - though you’ll probably still find that it’s missing a few that you’d have wanted to use. One of the features that might be missed is double-tap-to-wake (which, by the way, is included on the Nexus 9 tablet).

Weird enough, the Nexus 6 initially had the tap-to-wake feature, but Google decided to remove it. The feature (and the fact that it’s been disabled) was discovered in a code commit that can be seen on Google’s website at the source link below. While there’s no official word on why Google removed the feature, this may have something to do with the fact that the Nexus 6 comes with an “Ambient Display” - the equivalent of Motorola Moto X’s active display.

With or without some of the features that you’d wish to see, the Nexus 6 was released by Google in the US last week, and it’s coming soon to other markets.
