You don't need to remember the exact pattern, for example - just where it started from. The app will go on to show you what patterns that begin on this starting point you have stored. Just trace the pattern and release your finger when you reach the app to launch it.
Pattern Launcher configures the most commonly used apps for you upon first start. You can then customize the apps and patterns to whatever you like. You are given a 3 by 3 grid of dots, and from each, you can make 8 patterns with 1 or 2 hops. This means you can potentially have 72 apps at your fingertips, categorizing them at different dots.
