PayPal exec confirms fingerprint-reading iPhone is coming
Google is planning to replace password with more up-to-date authentication means, and Apple is apparently gunning for the same, starting with the venerable iPhone franchise, or so we've heard multiple times already.

PayPal's Chief Information Security Officer - you know, the guy that is after all those fraudulent ways to game the payment system, took the stage at the Interop security expo to hint what a future without passwords might mean.

Among the keynote talking points was this little gem: "It's widely rumored that a large technology provider in Cupertino, Calif., will come out with a phone later this year that has a fingerprint reader on it. There is going to be a fingerprint enabled phone on the market later this year. Not just one, multiple."

Coupled with yesterday's reports from the Taiwanese supply chain that Apple might be using a capacitive touch home key this time, made by sapphire crystal, which will double as a fingerprint scanner, and the old adage "when there's smoke, there's fire" fully applies.
