Samsung Galaxy S4 becomes the first smartphone passing TCO certification
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has become the first phone to get the TCO eco certificate for being environmentally-friendly. TCO, a Swedish company, is known to issue certificate for office equipment, but most often monitors and not smartphones.
The Galaxy S4 is the first handset to get such a certificate. This means the device has passed the sustainability, social, environmental and economic requirements of the organization.
To pass through certification the Galaxy S4 had to show compliancy with the International Labour Organization and the United Nation convention standard for lack of hazardous components. Samsung also claims the device features a reliable and power efficient design.
