Samsung Galaxy S6 & S6 edge feature easier to operate finger print sensors

Samsung’s flagship smartphones are known to feature the latest and greatest hardware, and with each successive device they push out, they keep on receiving newer features. Last year, the Samsung Galaxy S5 brought in a finger print sensor into the mix, which was incorporated into the home button beneath the display. Indeed, the addition of it brought on an additional and alternative source for securing the device, but some folks complained about its finicky operation.

In order for the phone to register a fingerprint, the user is asked to swipe their finger down – so the sensor is able to scan and verify the print. The process, of course, wasn’t always spot on, as many attempts were sometimes needed for it to work. Ultimately, though, the process was a frustrating one. In comparison, Apple’s implementation with its Touch ID finger print sensor seemed more streamlined and easier to operate – where all that’s necessary is to gently lay your finger print over the sensor, as opposed to swiping in downward motion.

Interestingly enough, Samsung has listened to some of the complaints about its implementation, and has improved it with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge. Essentially, it follows the same process as Apple’s Touch ID finger print sensor – where gently pressing your finger print over the home button initiates the connection. Even the process of setting it up is somewhat similar, seeing that we’re asked to gently press our finger over the sensor numerous times for it to accurately map it out.

Naturally, the execution is streamlined and flawless. No more need to swipe down multiple times because the sensor is unable to recognize it. Rather, the new process is quick, simple, and downright heartache-free. Knowing that Samsung has decided to go with this new implementation, it’s pretty logical that we’ll be seeing it in other future products as well. Check out the video below to see it in action.
