Spotify Premium and Free users to receive notifications from artists
Spotify announced that very soon it will allow artists to alert users about their newly released music. The streaming service conducted interviews with Premium users and it looks like they would like to be notified when their favorite artists have a new album out.

These new album recommendations will be personalized by Spotify based on the user listening taste, combine with human curation. The company is now running a test in the United States, as artists are given the ability to connect with their fans, but not for free.

Throughout the test, artist teams will pay to sponsor these recommendations, which will pop up on the Spotify mobile app for both Free and Premium users. According to Spotify, these recommendations will continue to be tailored to fit users' music tastes, which means one should only hear from artists that they frequently listen to or follow.

There's one other thing worth mentioning concerning these notifications. Spotify says that only Premium subscribers can turn them off, so if you're a Free user, you'll continue to be alerted by new albums even if you don't want to.
