Sprint HTC Hero owners are now officially in the game with Android 2.1

Sprint HTC Hero owners should look fast with eyes wide open because the day has finally come after numerous delays and hope slowly fading into the sunset with each passing of grim news. Android 2.1 and all of its goodness is now in full effect for these deprived owners who managed to stick with the device in the wake of many Android 2.1 devices being released into the market. Naturally one would fine all of the neat refinements expected out of Android 2.1, but of course HTC Hero owners can specifically look forward to the newest version of the Sense UI, improved corporate email support, and the usual mix of bug fixes to iron some things out. However, the process in installing the update will require you to connect the smartphone to your computer as opposed to having an over-the-air process – you'll have to install the update with HTC's Sync software.  Nonetheless, we'd imagine that it would be the least of worries for these owners who've been almost in the dark about the eventual arrival of Android 2.1.
