Toshiba debuts the 8" Encore - a $330 Windows tablet that fits in your palm
Now this is a new development - Toshiba just sent us the details of a brand new Windows 8.1 tablet it's been quietly preparing, called Encore. The 8" slate has a 1280x800 pixels IPS display, and is powered by a Bay Trail Atom chipset, pairing good Win 8 performance with long battery life.

You can, of course, run all legacy Windows programs on it, though with 32 GB of internal storage only a limited amount will fit, but you can expand via the supplied microSD card slot. The 8-incher is built of light and durable gray polycarbonate on the outside, and features a generous 8 MP camera on the back.

It has been crafted with careful input from Microsoft, knowing how popular the Encore will be with its $330 price, so it features dual-microphone setup for great Skype-ing experience. It also comes preloaded with Office Home & Student 2013, Xbox SmartGlass app, free streaming pass to Xbox Music, Norton Anti-Theft and some more apps, so a pretty good value for the money.

The microHDMI port is an added bonus for streaming stuff to your TV with a cheapo cable, and you can get all goods of the Toshiba Encore 8" Win 8 tablet at all major retailers come November, for the said $329.99 price tag.
