Twitter Music goes official with Rdio and Spotify integration, iPhone app coming today
Rumors about Twitter launching a music service floated around for nearly a week now, and today the company has finally come out by officially announcing that it is indeed rolling out “Twitter #Music” for iPhone and on the web.

Twitter Music looks a lot similar to other music apps with music categorized in four tabs: Suggested, #NowPlaying, Popular, and Emerging. It uses the platform of a startup WeAreHunted it quietly acquired last year.

Its biggest feature, though, is complete integration with Rdio and Spotify, two of the most popular music streaming services. Twitter’s unique role is in getting data from your followers to recommend and deliver music perfectly suited to your tastes. It also syncs with iTunes.

Interestingly, unlike its previous launches where Twitter usually targeted early adopters, this time the microblog is going straight for the mainstream. First because it made the announcement on the widely popular Good Morning, America and second for its tight integration of Rdio and Spotify. The Twitter Music iOS app should become available later today and an Android app is coming soon.
