Verizon to launch BlackBerry Torch 9850 on September 8th for direct fulfillment orders

September 8th is a date already circled on the calendar of many Verizon customers. After all, that is supposedly the day that the Motorola DROID BIONIC goes from myth to reality. But the DROID BIONIC might not be the only smartphone released that day by Verizon as a screenshot from Big Red's internal system shows that the carrier will be releasing the all-touchscreen BlackBerry Torch 9850 on September 8th for direct fulfillment orders. The phone will be in stores a week later, on September 15th. Pricing was not revealed.

The BlackBerry Torch 9850 is equipped with the largest screen on a 'Berry to date at 3.7 inches with resolution of 480 x 800. Like all of the newest BlackBerry models, a 1.2GHz single-core processor is under the hood along with 768MB of RAM. There is 8GB of internal memory and a 5MP camera on back captures video at 720p. For those who swear on BlackBerry handsets, the BlackBerry Torch 9850 is a big step up from the BlackBerry Storm, which most 'Berry fans swear at. And look Ma, no clicking SurePress screen on the newer phone.

So whether its the launch of the super-hyped Motorola DROID BIONIC or ordering the BlackBerry Torch 9850 for direct fulfillment, September 8th is turning out to be an exciting day for Verizon customers to look forward to.
