Verizon's Skype for Android has been updated to allow Wi-Fi connection
For a while there, it really made you wonder why you couldn't use Verizon's Skype for Android app properly while being tethered to a Wi-Fi connection – thus relying on their still mighty network for everything. Finally though, the app has been updated to allow users to place or receive calls – all the while being connected through Wi-Fi. However, Skype voice calls are still being routed through Verizon's network as opposed to either an active data connection via Wi-Fi or Big Red's 3G network. Naturally, the best part about this recent update is the fact that you can make these phone calls without having to turn off Wi-Fi ahead of time. In the past, users would watch and see the Skype app automatically turning off the Wi-Fi radio – which can be rather frustrating for some people. So if you haven't done so already, go download the latest version of the app and get situated with the new fix.
