Vodafone has confirmed a July launch in Europe for the much anticipated Nokia N97. The second touchscreen device running the S60 OS, it has a nicely sized 3.5 inch display that you can use to see the snapshots you have taken using the 5MP camera with the Carl Zeiss lens, auto focus and flash that you will find on the unit. Your favorite pair of headphones will be able to plug into the 3.5 mm audio jack that the device is equipped with, and the HTML browser will render sites over Wi-Fi, or 3G when no hot spot can be found. 32GB of memory comes on board and the microSD slot can support another 16GB expansion. The N97 features a QWERTY keyboard that slides out from the side at a subtle angle to the display, which gives you a good look at the screen while you are typing. We'd love to tell you how much such a splendid, feature-rich device will cost you, but alas, we can't because the carrier has not yer posted any figures concerning pricing. Will we see this handset flexing its muscle in the U.S.? With all of its features and capabilities, we would imagine that some Stateside carrier could see the N97 offering enough of a challenge to the current crop of touchscreen studs (iPhone 3G, G1, Storm) to add the unit to its lineup.
