Wolfson confirms its audio whiz chip is in the Samsung Galaxy S III

Samsung has returned back to the excellent Wolfson audio chip in its current Galaxy S III flagship. It used the audio silicon from the Scottish company for the first Galaxy S, but strayed to Yamaha for the Galaxy S II.

Now Wolfson is back in business, confirming that its WM1811 HD Audio Hub is indeed behind the sound capabilities of the Galaxy S III: "We are delighted that Samsung has once again demonstrated its confidence in our Audio Hub solutions, this time by incorporating the WM1811 into its flagship GALAXY S III smartphone, the launch of which will further strengthen Samsung's position as a world leading smartphone manufacturer."

Wolfson's WM1811 HD Audio Hub promises crystal clear voice quality and enhanced audio playback, all with a mind set on minimal battery consumption, hence Samsung's decision to go back to their chips for its flagship Galaxy S III.
