Google Pay inches closer to US ubiquity with support for 32 new banks

Formed in 2018 by combining Google Wallet and the 2015-released Android Pay platform, Google Pay is probably not as widely used in the US as arch-rival Apple Pay, but it's certainly supported on a similarly large scale.

The official list of participating banks is simply staggering, but even though the search giant appears to be adding tens of new partners to the roster every few weeks or so, there are always more financial institutions waiting to join the party. The latest batch includes 32 names, according to the eagle-eyed folks over at 9to5Google, none of which are particularly big or well-known around the country.

Clearly, the goal here is to cover as much ground as possible and ultimately make Google Pay a truly ubiquitous digital wallet solution for owners of modern Android devices with NFC capabilities. Of course, after adding your supported credit or debit card to the app, you also need to find a retailer that either accepts NFC payments in general or this service in particular. Fortunately, that list continues to expand as well, which means cash and plastic could soon disappear altogether from buyers' pockets.

Without further ado, here are all the 32 new US banks offering comprehensive Google Pay support for their Android-using clients:
