T-Satellite to the rescue

Service outages sometimes last for hours and impact a vast portion of the user base, but T-Mobile appears to have acted swiftly to resolve this one.

Even as cellular signals dropped, many users weren't completely cut off, thanks to the T-Satellite service, which uses rocket company SpaceX's Starlink satellites to broadcast connectivity from space. Apart from letting users send and receive texts, the service also supports data services to power some essential apps.

While satellite speeds aren't comparable to traditional 5G, it proved to be a lifeline during the downtime.

We have reached out to T-Mobile for further comment and will update the article if we hear back.
