The rumor mill for the Pixel 11 is already spinning. And we have one question clearly present in the conversation: exactly when will the new Google phones arrive? We are still months away from an official announcement, but we have historical patterns and recent leaks, and those are starting to paint a clearer picture of Google's 2026 release strategy.

Google has been sticking to October launches for years, but in the last couple of years, it's moved to August. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 both made their debuts in late summer to get ahead of the iPhone cycle. We've rounded up all the latest whispers and timeline predictions to help you pinpoint when Google's next flagships are going to land.

When is the Pixel 11 coming?

Leaks are unanimous at this point that Google has indeed moved into its "August Era". The Pixel 11 series is likely to be announced in the middle of August. Pre-orders for the four devices that would make it into the series are likely to start on the day of the announcmeent.

As usual, in-store availability will come after the pre-order period. We're talking about late August or early September 2026 for that.

As for the exact date, rumors have not disclosed that just yet. However, Google almost exclusively holds its reveal events on a Tuesday or on a Wednesday. Tuesday has been the most common day, though, ever since the Pixel 1. Google has sometimes shifted to Wednesday (with the Pixel 8 and 10), so Wednesday is also a possibility.

Tuesdays in the middle of August that the Pixel 11's event may be held are:
  • August 11, 2026
  • August 18, 2026

A Wednesday announcement is also possible. So far, however, leaks have not corroborated these dates, so do keep that in mind.

Google is likely to have a special "Made by Google" event for the Pixel 11 phones. Contrary to competing brands like Apple and Samsung, Google announces the day of the "Made by Google" event significantly earlier. Last year, the invites for the event were sent on July 16, and the event itself was held on August 20.

So sometime in July or even late June, we should be hearing about the announcement date.

Which models will be released?

The Pixel 11 series is expected to consist of four modes:

The four phones are getting announced together, but the Pixel 11 Pro Fold may get a later release, just like it happened previous times. For example, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold hit the shelves on October 9. Its pre-orders did start together with the other Pixel 10 phones, though. The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pro XL should hit the shelves together.

Why did Google move to an August release

Google's decision to abandon the traditional October launch is mainly a competitive move. Google pushed the Pixel event in August, and in doing so, it attempted to steal the spotlight just weeks before Apple's annual September iPhone reveal.

Potentially, this was a move to help Google gain more attention for its phones before the iPhones. There's also the fact that this early reveal sets Google to be leading in AI features, somewhat making Apple seem like it's playing catch-up in that regard too (not that it isn't, really).

Meanwhile, some suggest that the move was also done to capture the "back-to-school" market from a marketing standpoint. It's also allowing leakers less time to spoil the fun of the upcoming products.

Expected upgrades

All in all, we don't expect huge upgrades for the Pixel 11 series this time around. The four phones main upgrade would be the new Tensor G6 chip that's reportedly going to be built on a 2 nm process. It should be faster and more power efficient and, potentially, designed with AI tasks in mind.

The phones would also be getting the new Titan M3 chip for security and a new MediaTek M90 modem, which should improve 5G connectivity and speeds.

Huge camera hardware upgrades are unlikely, but in terms of features, we're likely getting some advanced AI tricks and overall deeper integration with Gemini.

When it comes to the design, we expect a recognizable Google Pixel look with a slightly more refined camera bar that's now going to be entirely black.

Still, we're getting the usual flat sides and screen sizes as last year. One, frankly needed, upgrade would be thinner bezels on the Pixel 11.

All in all, the Pixel 11 phones are shaping up to be an incremental upgrade with the required polish and a bunch of AI features. We'll likely know more about them when the announcement nears, so stay tuned!
